(Sydney) Rosemary Goldie Lecture

Catalyst for Renewal and The Grail in Australia invite you to attend our biennial Rosemary Goldie Lecture on Sunday 9 September.

Topic: Pope Francis' Efforts For Reform, And Implications For The Australian Church Preparing For Its Plenary Council.

Speaker: John Allen Jr. is a leading American journalist specialising in Vatican affairs. Allen worked for 16 years in Rome as a Vatican watcher, covering news about the Holy See and the Pope. During that time he was senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter and an analyst of Vatican affairs for CNN and NPR. Allen is also the author of several books about the Catholic Church. He has written two biographies of Pope Benedict XVI, the first one published in 2000 when the Pope was still a cardinal and later the first biography of him in English.

MC: Geraldine Doogue (AO) is a renowned Australian journalist and broadcaster with experience in print, television and radio. During her career with both the ABC and commercial media she has won two Penguin Awards for excellence in broadcasting from the Television Society of Australia and a United Nations Media Peace Prize. In 2000 Geraldine was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for social and cultural reporting. In 2003, she was recognised with an Officer in the Order of Australia for services to the community and media.
