(Sydney) Advent 2019 at the Grail: Deep Despair, Ferocious Hope
December 11, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$10
Evening #2 - Robert Fitzgerald AM
A series of two-evenings opening space for us to acknowledge the deep despair many feel as they reflect, for example, on the state of the world in the shadow of the ecological crisis, or the state of the Church in the wake of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Childhood Sexual Abuse. Yet whatever situation we each face, whatever overwhelming challenges we encounter, we can choose our response. With ferocious hope, Jason John and Robert Fitzgerald will invite us to do just that.
Robert Fitzgerald AM was, for five years, the Commissioner on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. He was appointed as the inaugural NSW Ageing and Disability Commissioner in 2019. He has served on numerous NGO boards including previously as President Australian Council of Social Service, NSW State President St Vincent de Paul Society, and National Committee Member of CARITAS. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1994. Robert is currently an Adjunct Professor with the University of Western Australia.
